Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is about 9 km north of central Ahmedabad on Airport Road, one of the shortest airport runs of any Indian metro. The chauffeur reaches Ashram Road in twenty minutes, the SG Highway hotels in thirty, and GIFT City at Gandhinagar in about the same.

International arrivals clear Terminal 2 and meet the chauffeur beside the arrivals exit; domestic passengers on IndiGo, Akasa or SpiceJet arrive at Terminal 1 next door, while Air India domestic now uses Terminal 2. Ashram Road and Navrangpura are about 9 to 10 km and 20 to 30 minutes by Airport Road and the Hansol bridge; the SG Highway hotel belt (Hyatt Regency, Taj Skyline, Courtyard) is about 15 km and 30 to 40 minutes; GIFT City and The Leela Gandhinagar are about 15 km north by the Gandhinagar highway.

Where a day in Ahmedabad actually goes
The city has shifted west: the old textile and trading houses on Ashram Road and in Navrangpura are still there, but the corporate offices, consulates and hotels now line the SG Highway from Thaltej to Prahladnagar, and the financial and fintech campuses are in GIFT City between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Manufacturing visitors head to Sanand and Bavla for the automotive plants, about 30 to 40 km south-west, or to the Naroda and Odhav GIDC estates. A day-hire often pairs an SG Highway hotel with a GIFT City morning and a Sanand plant afternoon; the chauffeur uses the SP Ring Road to link them. Hospital runs go to Zydus, Apollo at Bhat and CIMS.

Day trips, festivals and occasions from Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad's day trips are long: the Statue of Unity at Kevadia is about 200 km each way and needs an early start, Vadodara is a comfortable expressway return, and Modhera and Patan combine into one heritage day north of the city. Uttarayan on 14 January puts rooftops and the Sabarmati Riverfront in demand, and Navratri nights in September or October mean late garba returns booked by the hour. Rail passengers are met at Ahmedabad Junction at Kalupur (ADI) for most long-distance trains, at Sabarmati (SBIB) for the northern services, and at Gandhinagar Capital (GNC) for arrivals bound for GIFT City.
