Airport transfer in Chennai: chauffeur pickup at Chennai International Airport
Chennai International Airport at Meenambakkam has separated its traffic: the new integrated Terminal 2 handles international flights, while domestic flights use T1 and T4 next door with no airside link between them. The airport is about 16 km down the GST Road from Anna Salai and Nungambakkam.

Airport transfers in Chennai
International passengers clear customs in Terminal 2 and meet the chauffeur beside the arrivals exit, name board raised. Domestic passengers arrive at T1 or T4, and because the airlines have moved between those two halls more than once, the chauffeur confirms which one your carrier is using that week rather than assuming. The car is held in the airport car park and brought to the pick-up lane outside the correct hall as you clear baggage, and because the chauffeur follows the flight from push-back, a tailwind that lands you early just means an earlier pick-up. Chennai Metro Line 1 ends at the airport, but with luggage and a Nungambakkam hotel the car is the practical choice.
Routes and drive times from MAA
The GST Road runs straight into the city. Guindy is about 8 km and 20 minutes, where the Kathipara junction feeds the Inner Ring Road towards Adyar and the technology corridor on the Old Mahabalipuram Road; Anna Salai, Nungambakkam and the Taj Coromandel and Leela belt are about 16 km and 40 to 60 minutes. The ITC Grand Chola on Mount Road is closer, just past Guindy. Westbound, the Bengaluru highway takes the chauffeur to the Sriperumbudur and Oragadam automotive plants, about 40 to 50 km, without entering the city at all. Sholinganallur and Siruseri on the OMR are reached by the Inner Ring Road and the Tidel Park end of the corridor.
Practical notes for MAA
Departures from Nungambakkam or the Marina side need an hour and a quarter in the evening, when the GST Road and the Kathipara junction slow; from Guindy or the OMR allow an hour. Night arrivals are simple, with the terminals and the pick-up lanes working around the clock and the GST Road clear after eleven. Tolls on the Bengaluru highway and the East Coast Road are paid by the chauffeur through FASTag and itemised, and should a delayed flight keep the car in the airport car park for hours, that ticket appears on the invoice at the printed rate and nothing more. The chauffeur drops departing passengers at the correct terminal, which matters more here than at most airports because T2 and the domestic halls have separate approaches.
The new integrated Terminal 2 handles international flights; domestic flights use T1 and T4, and there is no airside link between them, so the chauffeur checks the terminal on the ticket. About 16 km to Nungambakkam and Anna Salai by the GST Road.

Questions
Airport transfer in Chennai: frequently asked
Which terminal will my flight use at Chennai?
International flights use the new integrated Terminal 2. Domestic flights use T1 or T4, and there is no secure link between them, so the chauffeur checks which hall your airline is using that week and waits at that arrivals exit with a name board.
How long is the run to Nungambakkam or Anna Salai?
About 16 km up the GST Road, 40 to 60 minutes depending on the hour; Guindy is about 8 km and 20 minutes. The OMR technology corridor is reached from the Kathipara junction by the Inner Ring Road, and Sholinganallur is usually under an hour.
Can the chauffeur take me straight to a plant at Oragadam?
Yes. The Sriperumbudur and Oragadam automotive belt is about 40 to 50 km west on the Bengaluru highway, reached from the airport without crossing the city, and many manufacturing visitors book the airport transfer and the plant day as one hire.
Is there a metro from the airport?
Chennai Metro Line 1 terminates at the airport station and is an option for a passenger with hand luggage only. For a hotel transfer with bags, or any arrival after the last train, the pre-booked chauffeur waiting at the arrivals exit is the simpler choice.
