The two terminals sit on the same site but have separate arrivals exits and no airside link, so the terminal is read from the flight number the evening before and confirmed to you by message. At either exit the chauffeur waits with a name board; the car is parked in the short-stay area and brought to the kerb once you are out, so nobody waits in the sun with bags. International arrivals get a longer margin for immigration and customs, and domestic arrivals are met before the belt starts. Tonk Road is the spine: the Rambagh Palace and the Tonk Road hotels are about 10 km and 20 to 30 minutes; MI Road, C-Scheme and the Jaipur Junction side about 12 km and 30 to 40 minutes; The Oberoi Rajvilas on the Goner Road quotes 15 km and 30 minutes from the airport. The Kukas resorts on the Delhi highway, Fairmont and The Leela Palace, are the long airport run, about 25 km on the far side of the city; The Leela quotes 60 minutes. JECC at Sitapura, the exhibition centre used by the jewellery and trade shows, is in the RIICO industrial area a short distance from the airport on the same side of town.
Practical notes for JAI
Departures: 90 minutes before a domestic flight from the Tonk Road hotels and two and a half hours from Kukas is comfortable; international departures get an hour more. The airport-to-city run carries no toll. Night arrivals are common on the Gulf and Bangkok services and the chauffeur meets them at Terminal 1 like any other; the roads are empty and the Rambagh is 20 minutes at that hour. Jaipur Literature Festival week in January and the winter wedding season stretch the city's hotel and car capacity, and airport bookings for those dates are made when the flights are. Luggage is confirmed at booking so trunks and wedding outfits travel in an MPV rather than a sedan boot.
