At Dabolim the chauffeur waits outside the single terminal's arrivals exit at the designated bay, because the field is a naval station and cars do not linger at the door; at Mopa the meeting point is beside the arrivals exit of the new terminal, with the car in the short-stay park. The airport code is checked against the ticket the evening before and again on the morning, since a passenger who says Goa may mean either field. Flights are tracked and waiting for a normal delay is included. Groups arriving for a beach wedding or a conference get several cars under one booking with a coordinator at the terminal, and luggage vehicles when the party is large enough to need them.
Routes and drive times from GOI
From Dabolim, the South Goa resorts are the short runs: ITC Grand Goa at Arossim quotes 20 minutes, the Leela at Cavelossim and the Taj Exotica at Benaulim are 15 to 25 km and 30 to 45 minutes, and Margao is 23 km by the district's figure. Panaji is about 30 km and 45 to 60 minutes across the Zuari bridge. From Mopa, Morjim and Vagator are about 20 km, Calangute and Candolim about 35 km and 50 to 60 minutes, and Panaji about 45 km. The two airports are an hour and a half apart, so a wrong-airport arrival is a real cost, and we confirm the code twice. Goa's roads are two-lane for most of these distances and evening traffic through Porvorim and Margao is slow.
Practical notes for GOI
There are no tolls on the airport roads inside Goa. Night arrivals are met at either field and the beach belts are quicker after dark. For departures allow 90 minutes to Dabolim from South Goa and two hours from Panaji; for Mopa allow two hours from Calangute and Candolim because the Mapusa stretch is slow. December is the peak, with Sunburn, the Feast of St Francis Xavier on 3 December, Christmas and New Year filling every room, and airport cars for those weeks are booked when the flights are. The International Film Festival in November brings delegate shuttles to Panaji. Luggage is confirmed at booking; surfboards and wedding trunks go in an MPV rather than a sedan.
