Attukal Pongala in February or March brings hundreds of thousands of women cooking on the streets around the temple and closes the centre of the city for a day; Onam week and the film festival in December are the other peaks. Rail passengers are met at Thiruvananthapuram Central (TVC) at Thampanoor, and at Kochuveli (KCVL) for the long-distance trains that terminate on the airport side.
