What private means
The difference between a private chauffeur and a car on demand
Every ride-hailing app in India will send a driver in a few minutes. What it cannot send is the same driver tomorrow, or a driver who already knows that you take the Aerocity exit rather than the Mahipalpur one, that the school gate closes at 8:10 and that the boot must hold a golf bag on Fridays. A private chauffeur service is built around that continuity. The chauffeur is assigned to you for the length of the engagement, the vehicle is the same vehicle, and the desk's job is to keep both on your booking rather than to find whoever is nearest.
In practice the engagement runs from a single day to a season. A day is a ten-hour, eighty-kilometre package on the international card, priced per vehicle class on the rates page. A week is billed as five and a half charter days with a kilometre pool of 1,800. A month is billed as twenty charter days with a pool of 6,000 km, a dedicated chauffeur and a relief chauffeur rostered for the days off. Anything longer is quoted individually, usually at the monthly rate with the relief roster extended.
The vehicle is chosen once. Most private engagements run in an executive sedan, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or BMW 5 Series, because it carries two in comfort with luggage for a week; families and touring parties take the luxury SUV or the Toyota Innova Hycross; principals who want the rear cabin of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class take the luxury sedan, and that class has its own page for S-Class chauffeur hire across India.

How a RUTZ.IN private chauffeur is selected and briefed
A chauffeur on a private engagement carries a commercial driving licence and a badge issued under the state transport authority, a police verification certificate and a background check completed before the first booking. The vehicle carries a commercial permit and the fitness and insurance papers a passenger is entitled to see; the registration is on the confirmation and can be checked against the Ministry of Road Transport records on Parivahan. Chauffeurs speak English and the language of the city, wear a uniform, and are trained in the etiquette of executive and hospitality work: when to speak, when to hold the door, where to wait so that the car is visible without blocking a porte-cochere.
Before the engagement starts, the desk sends the chauffeur a briefing that reads like a short file: the passenger's name and the name they prefer, the hotel and the home, the office, the airport terminal usually used, allergies or medical notes the passenger has chosen to share, and any confidentiality terms. For engagements under a client's own paperwork, the chauffeur signs the non-disclosure agreement before the first day. On the morning of day one the coordinator calls the passenger to confirm the chauffeur's name, the registration and the pickup time, and from then on the chauffeur and passenger deal with each other directly, with the desk in the background.
If the assigned chauffeur cannot continue, because of illness, a family matter or a rostered day off on a long engagement, the desk says so the evening before and briefs the replacement from the same file. It does not happen silently, and the passenger never has to explain the routine twice.

India rewards two different approaches, and the desk will recommend one. For a road itinerary, Delhi to Agra to Jaipur and back, Bengaluru to Mysuru and Coorg, Mumbai down to Goa, the same chauffeur and car travel with you; the chauffeur's lodging and meals on outstation nights are inside the charter day rate, along with fuel, and the state entry taxes and tolls are itemised at cost. The advantage is obvious: the routine, the luggage and the small preferences travel with you.
For a flying itinerary, Delhi on Monday, Hyderabad on Wednesday, Chennai on Friday, a chauffeur in each city is faster and cheaper than driving one car 2,000 km behind you. The daily rate is the same whoever books it; the preparation is not. These are the engagements the desk runs most, and the detail each one needs.
The executive on assignment
Three weeks in Mumbai for a due-diligence exercise: one chauffeur, one E-Class, a fixed 8 am collection from the hotel, meetings in BKC and Nariman Point, and a monthly-rate invoice with GST to the company. The chauffeur keeps a log of every leg for the expense claim.
The touring family
Ten days across Rajasthan in a Land Cruiser or a Kia Carnival with the same chauffeur, the itinerary agreed each evening, the chauffeur's lodging inside the rate, monument parking and guide fees itemised, and a child seat fitted before day one.
The medical stay
Six weeks near a hospital in Chennai or Delhi with a chauffeur who learns the appointment schedule, waits through consultations, carries a folding wheelchair in the boot and drives an MPV a patient can enter without stooping.
The production

The arithmetic
Why the daily, weekly and monthly rates beat an hourly booking
An hourly booking on the international card carries a four-hour minimum and a per-hour rate; it is the right product for a dinner or a half-day of meetings. Once a car is wanted for most of the day, most days, the day and charter packages are cheaper per hour and the kilometres are pooled rather than metered. The executive sedan day is $1,400 for eight hours and eighty kilometres, and the ten-hour, 300 km charter day is $1,700 including fuel and the chauffeur's outstation costs. From the third day the charter rate drops ten per cent; a week is billed as 5.5 days; a month as 20 days.
Extra hours are charged in the published extra-hour rate for the class, extra kilometres beyond the pool at the published per-kilometre rate, and a night allowance of $50 applies to driving between 10 pm and 6 am. Days over twelve hours get a second chauffeur. Every figure is on the rates page, and the charter builder prices a multi-day engagement live, with the tier discounts applied, before anything is paid. International clients are billed on the USD card, where the same executive sedan day is $1,400 and the charter day $1,700.

How to book a private chauffeur in India
A single day can be booked and paid online through the booking page as a day package, choosing the vehicle class and entering the first pickup; the fare is fixed before payment. For a week, a month or an itinerary that crosses cities, send the dates, the cities and the vehicle preference through the contact page, or build the engagement on the charter page and let the coordinator refine it. The desk replies with a written quote, a proposed chauffeur where the engagement is long enough to warrant a named assignment, and the deposit terms.
Corporate clients open an account first: the corporate accounts page explains the coordinator, the traveller profiles and the monthly invoice, and a private engagement for a visiting executive is then booked against it. Inbound tour operators and overseas agencies are billed on the international card and can hold blocks of chauffeur-days for a season. In every case, cancellation follows the published policy: free more than 72 hours before the first day, then a stepped charge inside 72, 48 and 24 hours.

Private chauffeur service in India: frequently asked
Is the same chauffeur guaranteed for the whole engagement?
Wherever the engagement is long enough to name a chauffeur, yes: the desk assigns one person and one vehicle and keeps them on the booking. On engagements over six days a relief chauffeur is rostered for the assigned chauffeur's day off, and any unavoidable change is told to you the evening before with the replacement briefed from the same file.
Can I hire a private chauffeur for my own car?
RUTZ.IN supplies the chauffeur and the vehicle together. A chauffeur driving a client-owned car falls under a different permit and insurance regime in India, so the desk does not offer it; the daily rate covers a commercially permitted, insured vehicle and the driver.
What does the daily rate include, and what is extra?
The India-card day is eight hours and eighty kilometres with fuel and the chauffeur; the charter day is ten hours and 300 km and adds the chauffeur's meals and lodging on outstation nights. Tolls, parking, state entry taxes and monument fees are itemised at cost; extra hours and kilometres are at the published class rate; GST is added.
Do you cover cities other than the ones with pages?

How far ahead should a private chauffeur be booked?
A day or two for a single day in a metro; a week for a multi-day engagement so the desk can name the chauffeur; longer around Diwali, the wedding season and the big conference weeks, when the rosters in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru fill first.
Can the chauffeur travel with us to another state?
Yes. A tourist-permit vehicle can cross state lines, and the state entry tax it pays on the way in, Rajasthan's for example, is charged at cost against the receipt. Lodging and meals for the chauffeur on those nights are inside the charter rate.
