Rajiv Gandhi International at Shamshabad is 33 km south of the centre, and the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway carries the car straight to Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills, where the older hotels and the residences are, in half an hour. The Outer Ring Road loops west from the airport to Gachibowli's Financial District and HITEC City at Madhapur, where the technology and pharmaceutical companies have their campuses and the newer hotels stand, in about the same time. Beyond the city
Warangal, Nagarjunasagar, Bidar and the film city
Ramoji Film City, about 30 km south-east, is a half-day booking for visitors and a working address for productions. Warangal and the Thousand Pillar Temple, about 145 km north-east, make a full charter day with the Kakatiya fort on the way; Nagarjunasagar's dam and the Buddhist museum on its island, about 150 km south, another; Bidar's fort across the Karnataka line, about 140 km west, a third. Who drives, and what the fare buys
Every chauffeur on the Hyderabad roster holds a commercial licence and a Telangana transport badge, has cleared police verification and a background check, wears a uniform and speaks English, Telugu and Hindi. The vehicles carry commercial permits and insurance, are serviced on schedule and presented clean, and the registration is on the confirmation for checking against the Parivahan records. The fare is fixed per vehicle class before payment, GST is added, and the expressway and Outer Ring Road tolls are itemised at cost against receipts. No gratuity is expected. The chauffeur's name, number and registration arrive the day before, and the desk tracks every flight into Shamshabad.
Hyderabad also has a calendar of its own that the chauffeurs plan around.
