The terminal
Shamshabad: one terminal, and where the chauffeur waits
Rajiv Gandhi International handles every domestic and international flight into Hyderabad through one integrated terminal, which removes the terminal question that complicates Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The chauffeur waits at the arrivals exit beyond customs with a name board, in the zone the airport allows for private chauffeurs, and the confirmation names that point and gives the chauffeur's number. The car is in the pick-up lane for the short halt the airport permits or in the car park a few minutes' walk away, and the chauffeur takes the trolley either way; the operator's guidance on reaching the airport and on parking is linked at the foot of this page.
The sixty minutes of waiting inside every airport fare are counted from the moment the aircraft lands. The Bureau of Immigration desks at Shamshabad are usually quick, but a bank of Gulf and long-haul arrivals in the early hours can take an hour; baggage follows; then customs. The chauffeur waits through all of it, a passenger delayed inside the terminal is never treated as a no-show, and waiting beyond the hour, once the passenger has cleared the hall and asked the car to stand, is charged in fifteen-minute steps at the class's extra-hour rate. The roads
The expressway and the ring road: which one the chauffeur takes
Two roads leave the airport. The PV Narasimha Rao Expressway runs north over the city's southern districts straight into Mehdipatnam and on to Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills, about 33 km and thirty to forty-five minutes; it is the road for the older hotels, the residences and the hospitals. The Outer Ring Road runs west and north from the airport to Gachibowli's Financial District and HITEC City at Madhapur, about 30 km and the same time; it is the road for the campuses, the convention centre and the newer hotels. The routes
From Shamshabad to every part of Hyderabad, with honest times
The fare is fixed by vehicle class whatever the road does, but the desk quotes the time honestly, because that is what a passenger plans around.
Shamshabad is unusually easy to work with. The expressway and the Outer Ring Road put most districts about forty minutes from the terminal at most hours, which makes Hyderabad one of the few Indian cities where a late arrival and an early departure the next morning is comfortable rather than punishing. There is a general-aviation terminal as well, and where the operator permits it the chauffeur meets the aircraft there; for everyone else the meet is at the single arrivals hall with a name board and an hour of waiting inside the fare.

The vehicles
Which car to book from Hyderabad airport
The executive sedan, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or BMW 5 Series, is the standard airport car for one or two passengers with two large bags, at $220 on the international card for the run to any address in the city. The luxury sedan, the S-Class or 7 Series, is $350 for a principal or a first-class arrival, and the Hyderabad S-Class page covers it. The luxury SUV, a Fortuner, Land Cruiser or GLS, carries up to five with four bags at $280. The premium MPV, an Innova Hycross or Kia Carnival, carries six with five bags at $250 and is the value choice for a team. The V-Class and the group vans cover parties of six and twelve, and coaches through the network cover crews and delegations. GST is added; tolls and parking are at cost; there is no meet-and-greet charge and no gratuity is expected. The calendar
BioAsia, the festivals and the monsoon
BioAsia in February brings delegations through Shamshabad by the flight bank and fills the HITEC City hotels; the coordinator holds cars against the arrivals and the corporate accounts page explains how a company books them. Bonalu in July and August and Bathukamma in September and October bring processions that close roads in the old city and Secunderabad, which the desk plans around. How to book a Hyderabad airport chauffeur
