The terminals
T1 and T2 at Kempegowda: which one your flight uses
Terminal 2, the garden terminal, handles every international flight into Bangalore and the full-service domestic carriers, Air India, Air India Express and Star Air. Terminal 1 handles IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet and Alliance Air domestic flights. The two terminals are about 2 km apart on the same campus with a shuttle between them, and the Taj Bangalore hotel stands between them for a late arrival or an early departure. Immigration, baggage and the hour that is inside the fare
The sixty minutes of waiting inside every airport fare are counted from the moment the aircraft lands. At T2 the Bureau of Immigration desks are usually quicker than Delhi's or Mumbai's, but a bank of long-haul arrivals in the early morning can still take an hour; baggage follows; then customs. The chauffeur waits through all of it, a passenger delayed inside the terminal is never treated as a no-show, and waiting beyond the hour, once the passenger has cleared the hall and asked the car to stand, is charged in fifteen-minute steps at the class's extra-hour rate. Many of Bangalore's long-haul flights land in the early hours; a night allowance of $50 for journeys between 10 pm and 6 am is shown on the fare before payment, and at that hour the 35 km run takes forty-five minutes. The fare is fixed by vehicle class whatever the road does, but the desk quotes the time honestly, because that is what a passenger plans around.
Hebbal and Manyata
Thirty to forty-five minutes down the Ballari Road elevated expressway to Manyata Tech Park and the northern hotels, the first stop for many business arrivals.
MG Road and the centre
35 km and forty-five to ninety minutes to the Oberoi, the Taj West End, the ITC Gardenia, the JW Marriott and UB City.
Indiranagar and Koramangala
An hour to an hour and a half to the residential districts where visiting founders and executives stay, and to the Leela Palace on Old Airport Road.
Whitefield and the ring road
An hour to two hours to ITPL and the campuses at Bellandur and Marathahalli, longer in the evening; the desk suggests the airport road and the ring road or the inner route by the hour.
Electronic City
An hour and a half to two hours down the whole length of the city and the Hosur Road elevated, timed to miss Silk Board.
Onward cities

The vehicles
Which car to book from Bangalore airport
The executive sedan, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or BMW 5 Series, is the standard airport car for one or two passengers with two large bags, at $220 on the international card for the run to any address in the city. The luxury sedan, the S-Class or 7 Series, is $350 for a principal or a first-class arrival, and the Bangalore S-Class page covers it. The luxury SUV, a Fortuner, Land Cruiser or GLS, carries up to five with four bags at $280 and is the right car for a family or an onward journey to Coorg. The premium MPV, an Innova Hycross or Kia Carnival, carries six with five bags at $250 and is the value choice for a team. The V-Class and the group vans cover parties of six and twelve, and coaches through the network cover crews and delegations. GST is added; the airport road toll and parking are at cost; there is no meet-and-greet charge and no gratuity is expected. The calendar
Aero India, the Tech Summit and the monsoon
Two events change the airport road. Aero India at Yelahanka air base, in February of odd years, closes the road during the flying displays and fills the northern hotels; the desk plans pickups around the display schedule and books the executive classes early. The Bengaluru Tech Summit in November fills the centre and the airport with delegations, and the coordinator holds cars against the flight banks. The monsoon from June to September delays flights and floods the ring road's low points, and the desk tracks every aircraft, watches the India Meteorological Department's warnings and plans the route around the water; a flight cancelled by the airline moves the booking without charge.
