How Pune shapes a chauffeur booking

One Pune question comes up on almost every enquiry: which airport. Lohegaon handles the domestic schedule and sits fifteen minutes from Koregaon Park, but a great many international arrivals still land at Mumbai and take the Expressway down, about 150 kilometres and three hours. The two produce completely different first days, so the desk asks for the flight number rather than the city before it quotes, checks the airport code against it, and sends a pickup time built on the Ghats at that hour rather than on a map estimate.

Who drives, and what the fare buys

Every chauffeur on the Pune roster holds a commercial licence and a Maharashtra transport badge, has cleared police verification and a background check, wears a uniform and speaks English, Marathi and Hindi. The vehicles carry commercial permits and insurance, are serviced on schedule and presented clean, and the registration is on the confirmation for checking against the Parivahan records. The fare is fixed before the journey from the published cards on the rates page: the executive sedan at $220 for the airport transfer, $190 an hour with a four-hour minimum and $1,400 for the eight-hour day on the international card, with the luxury, SUV, MPV and group classes scaling from it, GST added and the tolls at cost. Pune is also the best base in India from which to see a monsoon, which is worth knowing when choosing dates. From June the Sahyadri escarpment west of the city runs with hundreds of waterfalls and the plateau turns green; Lonavala is an hour away and Mahabaleshwar two. The caveats are real - the Expressway slows in heavy rain and weekend traffic up the Ghat is severe - so the desk suggests weekdays and an early start, and the chauffeurs on these routes drive them year-round.
