Jodhpur's single terminal has one arrivals exit, and the chauffeur waits there with a name board; because the field is inside the air force station, the pick-up bay is outside the terminal gate and photography is restricted. The Umaid Bhawan Palace is about 4 km and 10 to 15 minutes; Taj Hari Mahal and Vivanta on the Residency Road side about 5 km; RAAS and the old-city havelis under the fort about 8 km and 25 minutes, with the last stretch through the blue-city lanes on foot or in the hotel's own small vehicle.

Where a day in Jodhpur actually goes
Jodhpur's economy is handicrafts, furniture and the military: the export houses for wooden and metal furniture and textiles sit in the Basni and Boranada industrial areas and along the Pali road, the guar-gum and steel-rerolling units in the same belts, and the army and air force establishments across the cantonment. Buyers on a day-hire run a Circuit House Road hotel to two or three Boranada or Basni showrooms with the car held at each; leisure passengers take Mehrangarh Fort in the morning (the chauffeur drops at the fort gate, where the lift and the ramp take over), Jaswant Thada and Mandore in the afternoon, and the Clock Tower market at dusk. Medical runs go to AIIMS Jodhpur at Basni and Medipulse.

The desert is the second trip: the Bishnoi villages are a half-day of blackbuck and craft workshops, Osian's temples and dunes a comfortable day return, and Jaisalmer about 285 km west on NH125, five to six hours, usually booked as a one-way with the same chauffeur staying for the return. Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh link Jodhpur to Udaipur as a heritage transfer. Jodhpur RIFF at Mehrangarh in October and the World Sacred Spirit Festival in February are the peak weeks, and palace weddings fill November to February. Rail passengers are met at Jodhpur Junction (JU), and at Bhagat ki Kothi (BGKT) or Raika Bagh (RKB) for the trains that stop there.
