Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery is about 25 to 30 km north-east of Ernakulam, so the transfer to Marine Drive or Fort Kochi takes 45 to 75 minutes on the Aluva and Edappally road. Cochin International Airport to the city
International passengers clear Terminal 3 and domestic passengers Terminal 1, a short walk apart; the chauffeur waits beside the arrivals exit of the one on the ticket. The Airport Road joins NH544 at Athani and then the Aluva and Edappally corridor: Marine Drive and the MG Road hotels (Taj Malabar side, Crowne Plaza, Marriott at Lulu) about 30 km and 45 to 75 minutes, Grand Hyatt at Bolgatty about 30 km via the Goshree bridges, and Fort Kochi and Brunton Boatyard about 35 km and up to 90 minutes in the evening.

Where a day in Kochi actually goes
Kochi is Kerala's commercial centre: the port and container terminal on Willingdon Island and at Vallarpadam, the refinery at Ambalamugal, the shipyard, the technology campuses at Infopark and SmartCity in Kakkanad, and the corporate offices, banks and consulates along MG Road and Marine Drive. A day-hire for a shipping or refinery visitor is a Marine Drive hotel to Willingdon Island or Ambalamugal with the car held at the gate; for a technology visitor a Kakkanad loop. Medical-travel runs go to Amrita Hospital at Edappally, Aster Medcity at Cheranalloor and Lakeshore at Maradu, and ayurveda guests are driven to the resorts at Cherai and Kumarakom.

Day trips, festivals and occasions from Kochi
Munnar is the mountain excursion, about 130 km and four hours on the Kothamangalam road, usually an overnight; Alappuzha's houseboats are about 55 km south and the chauffeur drops at the Punnamada jetty at noon and collects the next morning; Athirappilly waterfalls are a half-day from the airport side. Fort Kochi and Mattancherry take a walking morning with the car parked at the Parade Ground. The Biennale from December to April in alternate years and the Cochin Carnival at New Year are the cultural peaks, and Thrissur Pooram in April or May is a long day out. Rail passengers are met at Ernakulam Junction (ERS) and Ernakulam Town (ERN), and at Aluva (AWY) when the train is the connection to the airport.
