Outstation chauffeur from Nagpur: intercity journeys and multi-day charters
From Nagpur the roads lead to tigers. Pench is about 90 km north on NH44, Tadoba-Andhari 140 to 150 km south-east beyond Chandrapur, and the Samruddhi Mahamarg runs west to Wardha, Amravati and eventually Mumbai. Charters keep the same chauffeur and car for the safari days and the drive back.

Outstation in Nagpur
Pench is the morning-safari trip. The Maharashtra side of the reserve is entered at the Sillari and Khursapar gates about 90 km north of the city on NH44, and a morning safari means leaving a Nagpur hotel at about 5 am or staying at a lodge by the gate the night before; the safari permit is booked in advance by the passenger through the forest department's portal and the chauffeur drives to the gate, not into the reserve. Tadoba-Andhari, by the reserve's own figures, is about 140 to 150 km from Nagpur and 45 km from Chandrapur, with entry gates at Moharli, Kolara, Navegaon, Khutwanda, Zari and others and safaris in morning and afternoon slots; it is usually an overnight, and safaris need a valid identity document for each passenger.
The routes we drive from Nagpur
Heritage and pilgrimage trips are shorter. Ramtek, with its hilltop temple and the Khindsi lake 3.5 km away, is about 50 km north and a half day; the Totladoh dam on the Pench river near Ramtek is 80 km by the district administration's figure. Sevagram, Gandhi's ashram 8 km from Wardha town by the Wardha district figure, is about 80 km west and is reached quickly by the Samruddhi Mahamarg, which passes Wardha soon after leaving Nagpur. The same expressway carries longer charters to Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for Ajanta and Ellora, and on to Mumbai as a two-day drive with a night halt. Hyderabad lies south on NH44 through Butibori and Adilabad and is a long day.
Permits, halts and the multi-day charter
Pench, Ramtek and Wardha stay inside Maharashtra, so there are no state taxes on those runs; a Hyderabad charter crosses into Telangana and a northern Pench gate into Madhya Pradesh, and the interstate permit and tax formalities for the car are handled by the chauffeur and itemised. Expressway and NH44 tolls are paid by FASTag. Night halts include the chauffeur's lodging and meals; lodges at the reserves and hotels in Chandrapur or Wardha are booked by the passenger or by the office. Safari mornings are cold from November to February and hot from April, and the car carries water and a blanket; the chauffeur waits at the lodge through the safari and is ready when the gypsy returns.

Questions
Outstation in Nagpur: frequently asked
How early do I need to leave Nagpur for a Pench morning safari?
About 5 am from a Wardha Road or city hotel for the Sillari or Khursapar gates, roughly 90 km north on NH44, so that you are at the gate before the morning slot opens. Most passengers prefer a night at a lodge by the gate; the chauffeur drops you the evening before and waits through the safari days.
How far is Tadoba from Nagpur and which gate should I use?
The reserve's own site puts Tadoba-Andhari at about 140 to 150 km from Nagpur and 45 km from Chandrapur, with gates at Moharli, Kolara, Navegaon, Khutwanda, Zari, Pangdi, Agarzari and Devada. Your lodge and permit decide the gate; the chauffeur drives to it and returns for the pick-up. Carry identity documents for every passenger.
Do you run Nagpur to Mumbai by the Samruddhi Mahamarg?
Yes, as a two-day charter with a night halt, or as legs to Wardha, Amravati and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for Ajanta and Ellora. The expressway begins outside Nagpur and passes Wardha early in the run. Tolls are paid by FASTag and itemised, and the chauffeur's lodging is included in the rate.
Are Ramtek and Sevagram day trips?
Yes. Ramtek and the Khindsi lake, 3.5 km from the temple town, are about 50 km north and a comfortable half day. Sevagram ashram, 8 km from Wardha town, is about 80 km west and reached quickly by the Samruddhi Mahamarg; the chauffeur waits at the ashram and returns you to Nagpur for the evening.
