Lucknow is the hub of Uttar Pradesh's expressway network: the Agra-Lucknow Expressway runs west for 302 km, the Purvanchal Expressway east towards Varanasi, and NH27 to Ayodhya. Outstation in Lucknow
Ayodhya is the busiest run: about 135 km east by NH27 through Barabanki, about two and a half to three hours, booked as a day return with darshan time held. Kanpur is about 90 km south-west and under two hours, a morning-and-back business transfer. Agra is 302 km by the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which UPEIDA quotes at about three hours end to end, so the Taj Mahal is a long day or an overnight from Lucknow. Varanasi is about 300 km by the Purvanchal Expressway and NH31, five to six hours on the ground, usually an overnight. Delhi is about 530 km: the two expressways together, which UPEIDA puts at five and a half hours of driving, closer to seven with stops.
The routes we drive from Lucknow
Both UP expressways are tolled and accept FASTag; the chauffeur's tag pays and the toll appears as a line on the invoice. Cars registered in Uttar Pradesh cross into Delhi, Uttarakhand or Madhya Pradesh under an all-India tourist permit, so no border formalities fall on the passenger; where a state levies its own entry tax on tourist vehicles, Rajasthan for example, the chauffeur pays it at the border or online and it is itemised at cost. Night driving on the expressways is fine in the dry months, but fog cuts visibility from December to February, and we advise a dawn start rather than a night run on those dates. Fuel and the chauffeur's meals and lodging are included in the quoted charter.
Permits, halts and the multi-day charter
Longer charters from Lucknow go north to Dudhwa National Park, about 220 km, and to Naimisharanya, about 90 km, both on state roads where the last stretch is slower than the distance suggests. A three-day circuit of Ayodhya, Varanasi and back by the Purvanchal Expressway is a common pilgrimage charter; a two-day Agra and Fatehpur Sikri trip uses the expressway both ways. The chauffeur stays with the car for the whole charter and overnights near the passenger's hotel, so the morning departure is at your door. Vehicles are serviced before every outstation run and carry a spare wheel, a first-aid kit and a charged power bank for the passenger.

Questions
Outstation in Lucknow: frequently asked
How long is Lucknow to Ayodhya by car?
About 135 km by NH27 through Barabanki and Rudauli, typically two and a half to three hours each way. Most bookings leave Lucknow at dawn, allow three to four hours in Ayodhya for darshan and a walk to the ghats, and are back in the city by evening with the same chauffeur.
Can I book Lucknow to Delhi by road instead of flying?
Yes. The Agra-Lucknow and Yamuna Expressways make it about 530 km with roughly five and a half hours of driving by UPEIDA's estimate, around seven with a meal stop. It suits passengers with luggage, a Delhi meeting the next morning, or a stop at the Taj Mahal on the way.
Are tolls and state taxes included in an outstation quote?
Tolls are paid by the chauffeur's FASTag and shown on the invoice at cost; any state entry tax on the car is handled the same way. The quote itself covers fuel, the chauffeur's allowance and, on multi-day charters, the chauffeur's overnight stay near your hotel.
Is night driving on the expressways safe?
The expressways are lit at interchanges and patrolled, and night runs are routine from March to November. In winter, fog on the Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal Expressways can cut visibility badly, so between December and February we schedule departures after sunrise and tell you why.
