Where a day in Coimbatore actually goes
Coimbatore is an engineering and textile city: the pump, motor and machine-tool makers sit along the Avinashi, Trichy and Mettupalayam roads and in the Kurichi and Kalapatti estates, the spinning mills ring the city, and the garment exporters are in Tiruppur. The technology campuses are on the Saravanampatti corridor and at the Tidel Park and ELCOT SEZ. A day-hire for a buyer typically links a Race Course hotel with two or three factory visits on the Avinashi Road and a Tiruppur afternoon; for an engineering visitor it is a plant-gate loop with the car held at each. Medical-travel runs go to PSG Hospitals, KMCH on the Avinashi Road and Ganga Hospital.

Day trips, festivals and occasions from Coimbatore
The Nilgiris are the weekend: the ghat road from Mettupalayam climbs to Coonoor and Ooty in about two and a half hours, and the chauffeur times the descent before dark. The Isha Yoga Center and the Adiyogi statue at the foot of the Velliangiri hills are about 30 km from the city and draw a Mahashivratri all-night crowd each February or March that the chauffeur books as a fixed overnight. Pollachi, Topslip and the Anamalai forests are the southern day trip.
