Rushikonda and Madhurawada to the north-east are about 20 km by the Beach Road.

Vizag's economy is heavy and maritime: the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the industrial belt at Gajuwaka, the port and the naval dockyard, the pharmaceutical units at Parawada, and the refinery. The technology companies sit on the Rushikonda hills and at Madhurawada, and the state-government offices and corporate branches are around Dwaraka Nagar and Siripuram. A day-hire for an industrial visitor is a Beach Road hotel to the steel plant or Parawada with the car held at the gate; for a technology visitor it is a Rushikonda morning and a city afternoon.
