Chandigarh's terminal has a single arrivals exit, and the chauffeur waits there with a name board; the pick-up bay is across the forecourt. The airport road runs north-east to Zirakpur and then into Chandigarh on the Dakshin Marg: the JW Marriott in Sector 35 is about 11 km and 25 minutes, the Taj and Hyatt Centric in Sector 17 about 14 km and 30 to 40 minutes, and the Hyatt Regency in Industrial Area Phase 1 about 12 km. Mohali IT City and the Punjab Kings stadium at Mullanpur are on the airport side.

Where a day in Chandigarh actually goes
The Tricity has three administrations and three office clusters: the Punjab and Haryana secretariats and the High Court in the Capitol Complex at the top of Chandigarh, the corporate and bank branches around Sector 17 and Sector 34 and the Industrial Area, the technology campuses at the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park in Kishangarh and in Mohali IT City, and the pharmaceutical and government offices in Panchkula. A day-hire often runs a Sector 17 hotel to the High Court, then Mohali and back through Panchkula, and the chauffeur knows which sector roundabouts jam at lunchtime. Medical-travel runs go to PGIMER in Sector 12, Fortis Mohali and Max Mohali.

Day trips, festivals and occasions from Chandigarh
Shimla is the classic run: about 115 km through Kalka and Parwanoo, three to four hours up the old highway, with Kasauli as a shorter alternative at about 60 km for lunch and a ridge walk. Anandpur Sahib and the Virasat-e-Khalsa museum make a Sikh heritage day, and Morni Hills is the nearest hill drive. The Rose Festival in February and IPL match days at Mullanpur from March to May bring the seasonal bookings. Rail passengers are met at Chandigarh Junction (CDG) for the Shatabdi and Vande Bharat services from Delhi, at Mohali (SASN) for the few trains that stop there, and at Kalka (KLK) for the Kalka-Shimla narrow-gauge line.
